When you launch Echofon for the first time, you will be prompted to enter your Twitter username and password. Make sure you use your username, rather than an email address. If you don't have a Twitter account, scroll down and click the signup button, or sign-up from your computer at twitter.com.

Tap a tweet to open tweet view. From here, you can read information about the tweet and perform actions such as replying or marking the tweet as a favorite. If the tweet is part of a conversation, tap 'show conversation' to view all the tweets in a conversation view.
The user timeline view shows the most recent tweets from a specific user.
Tap the user's avatar to enter user profile view where you can see the user's information such as location, follower, following, favorits etc. You can follow, unfollow and block users from this screen.

When you tap the compose button in the upper right, or tap 'reply' on a tweet, you enter compose view. From here you can write a tweet. When writing a tweet, you can include a photo or video by clicking the camera icons. Press the crosshair button to update your current location. If you want to mention a friend click the friends button to bring up a searchable list, no need to remember their username!
If you enter compose view while on the direct message tab, you'll be composing a direct message and will need to enter a recipient before sending.
You can use the landscape keyboard in post view by turning your iPhone 90°.

In the search tab you can search tweets by keyword, current location or view trending topics. Change the search radius by tapping the current radius after tapping the crosshair.
Echofon has its own URL scheme. You can add a bookmarklet to Safari to post a link with Echofon. Add the following URL to the bookmarks on your Mac/PC; then sync your iPhone.
javascript:window.location='echofon:///post?'+window.locationjavascript:window.location='echofonpro:///post/username?'+window.loactionNote: For backwards compatibility, these URLs also work if you replace 'echofon' with 'twitterfon'.
Alternatively, open http://echofon.com/b with your iPhone and follow the directions for installing the bookmarklet.
| message: | Post message with Echofon (without URL shorten) |
| in_reply_to: | Post message to particular message (echofon:///in_reply_to?id=123&to=usernamemsg=test ) |
| user_timeline: | Open user timeline (echofon:///user_timeline?username) |
post protocol also support user's timeline directory. If you open 'http://twitter.com/naan' then use 'post' bookmarklet, Echofon opens @naan's user timeline. This is useful to open user timeline from a follow notice email. (open an e-mail, open twitter.com, then open Echofon.)
